Italian Passports - New rules for minors

25/11/2009
-
As of November 25, 2009, minors will no longer be added onto the passports of the parent (or guardian or person otherwise authorized to accompany them) as stated in law decree n. 135/2009. This new law has been decided at the European Community level, in order to protect the safety of minors when travelling. The passport duration varies according to the age of the minor:

• three years for minors up to three years old;
• five years for minors between three and eighteen years old;
• Passports issued before this law came into force are valid until their expiry date.
